Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior UNIX Systems Administrator with extensive experience in virtualized environments using VMware, RedHat Linux, and Solaris. The ideal candidate must also have proficiency with enterprise class SAN and storage equipment from vendors such as EMC, Hitachi, HP, IBM, and of course Brocade. This is an Operations role, and will require participation in the on-call rotation for after hours and weekend operational support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide 24x7 Operational support for mission critical UNIX systems and associated storage in a high availability environment • Perform capacity planning studies and takes actions to avoid resource shortages • Evaluate new products and recommend updates and upgrades • Diagnose and resolve complex system problems • Measure system performance and recommend and implement performance improvements • Manage SAN fabric/switch infrastructure • Manage and schedule infrastructure changes and configurations • Administer LDAP, NIS, DNS, and NFS • Manage and administer jumpstart/kickstart servers and services • Assist with backups of servers and storage using UNIX backup utilities • Anticipate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and recommend/implement solutions to performance-based issues that may arise due to processing needs and the operating environment Education and Experience Required: • 6 to 8 years’ experience performing enterprise level system administration in Solaris, Linux, and VMware environments. • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred or equivalent education/experience • Ability to create and present business cases for system requirements • Strong project management skills and the ability to think analytically • A fast learner, self-motivated individual with leadership skills who can work with minimal supervision • Must be able to communicate well both orally and in writing, have people skills, patience, diplomacy, and tact • Hands on administration experience with HP mid-tier X86 servers and C-class blades, and Sun/Oracle M and T class servers. • Perform detailed server audits and make recommendations to management to improve service levels (a plus) • Hands on Sr. Administration experience with enterprise UNIX systems, preferably Sun/Oracle Solaris, RedHat Linux, and VMware • Experience in Storage Area Network design, deployment and support as well as enterprise level storage servers such as EMC, Hitachi, or Network Appliance • Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking Specialized Knowledge and Experience (Highly Desirable): • Higher level scripting ability using Perl, Shell, Python, Ruby or similar • Monitoring systems such as Nagios, Zenoss, Hobbit • Configuration management utilities such as Puppet, CFengine

Job Description:
Brocade’s GITIO organization is dedicated to providing

contractors worldwide. The Technical Manager position is a member of the
Endpoint Operations team and is responsible for production desktop environment
and ensuring the Service Transition plans are completed timely and accurately.
This candidate will also be responsible for ensuring support
readiness requirements have been met and project deliverables have been completed
so that production teams are prepared to support changes introduced as a result
of IT projects. The successful candidate must be familiar with new desktop
technologies to leverage and benefit the department, new business strategies and
corporate initiatives. The candidate will be presentable, well-spoken, confident
in their skills, and able to work around people of various backgrounds.
Demonstrated abilities in the following areas: hardware troubleshooting, network
troubleshooting, software troubleshooting, task management, attitude,
documentation. Lastly, the candidate will be able to work with both high and low
degrees of oversight, and be willing and able to report back on a daily basis.
Excellent communication skills are critical to ensure business stakeholders are
well informed of IT directions. Knowledge of the business, deep technical skill
set in hardware and software is needed to perform well in this role.
Key
Responsibilities:
* Works as a liaison to Endpoint Engineering team
representing Endpoint Operations to provide end user requirements primarily
focused on support readiness.
* Provide training to stakeholders and promote
the adoption of Support Transition processes throughout IT
* Maintains MDT
Production server and global replication process.
* Acts as escalation point
for technicians to solve advanced user issues, problems and requests in the
areas of hardware, software, operating systems, remote access or networking
issues.
* Contributes to the analysis, design and implementation of desktop
technology life cycle management processes including technology procurement,
refresh and disposition.
* Use deployment tools such as the Microsoft
deployment tool-chain including Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager,
Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Windows Automated Installation Toolkit, Windows
Deployment Services, etc., or third party solutions.
* Able to translate
technical documentation into User Guides.
* Participates in internal projects
as assigned. This includes participating in IT related projects, deployment of
new desktop applications.
* Responsible for testing methodology &
application compatibility testing· Create documentation of technical designs,
System Run Books, defining day-to-daysupport processes, contributing to the
knowledgebase.
* Owns Service Transition of the ITIL framework, contributes
to Service Design.
Qualifications/Job Responsibilities:
* 5 – 7 years of
experience managing a technical team
* Must be well-rounded, adaptable,
accountable and responsible individual with hands-on experience in all phases of
the PC deployment lifecycle management.
* 3-5 plus years of experience in
desktopoperations support, with a strong MS Windows 2007 background.
* 2-3
years of experience with MS technologies including: Bitlocker encryption, MBAM,
MDOP, App-V, Med-V & DaRT
* At least one year working with MS Systems
Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
* At least one year experience in
creating and maintaining GPO/GPP.
* Must possess the ability to resolve
complex PC hardware and software problems.
* Excellent interpersonal skills,
communication skills across all technical levels and customer service
skills.
* Powershell scripting experience a plus.
* Familiar with ITIL
Foundations V3 (certification preferred)
* Desktop virtualization
technologies including Citrix, VDI & VMware.
