Position Description
The Technical Support Engineer provides technical support for McKesson products operating in a UNIX, Linux client/server environment with Oracle database systems. Solutions are highly complex and considered mission-critical in the healthcare industry, requiring rapid resolution. This will be supporting the Horizon Clinicals interface products.
Responsible for providing technical, functional, and coding support to customer*s product support teams, field engineers or technicians who are diagnosing, troubleshooting and debugging highly technical or sophisticated software or computer systems. Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in software. Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to software engineering/ design engineering. May be involved in customer installation and training. Provides support to customer/users where the product is highly or complex or technical in nature.
Minimum Requirements
4+ years experience providing technical support to product support teams, field engineers and technicians.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Critical (must have) skills:
Strong understanding of UNIX, Linux system architecture and commands
Good working knowledge of SQL
Experience with relational databases
Proficient troubleshooter
Ability to prioritize and demonstrate time management skills
Ability to work effectively with customers in high-pressure situations
Flexible schedule to allow for pager rotation
Desired (nice to have) skills:
Good understanding of TCP/IP, OSI layers
HL7 experience a plus
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Healthcare industry experience a Plus
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
Ability to quickly learn new, complex technologies
Education
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting software and/or customer service on computer systems.

Position Description
Responsible for responding to product application support questions from customers regarding the company’s software. Analyzes problems with software applications to identify problem area(s) and recommend corrective action. Recommends solutions to customer application questions. May utilize specialized domain expertise related to the specific application of the software to resolve customer problems.
Minimum Requirements
6+ years product applications support experience
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Experience with the following is critical for success:
Ability to effectively communicate and problem solve, mostly over telephone conversations
Experince with SQL data base (oracle environment preferred)
Experience with Unix commands (or Linux commands)
Ability to work outside normal business hours on call
Demonstrated success with critical thinking and root cause analysis
Education
BS degree or equivalent experience.
