Canoe - Q/A &System Integration

Canoe is looking for a Systems Integration and Quality Engineer to test applications, application templates, and Producer*s Took Kit on Canoe supported set-top boxes. The majority of testing involves applications on set-top boxes, but other projects involve deployment testing on various platforms. The position includes developing and executing test cases, organizing test results, and contributing to the continual improvement of the Quality Assurance process. Additionally, the employee will share responsibilities for QA equipment maintenance (test lab, test racks, test servers, etc.) Must be willing to work on-site in the Canoe West facility and available to travel as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Work with senior engineers within the Integration and Test organization to integrate and test solutions that drive towards Canoe Ventures business goals
o Organize and populate test reports
o Develop and exercise Test Plans and Test Cases
o Highlight test failures, propose workarounds/solutions, and bring to the attention of supervisor
o Execute detailed integration and test plans within specified timelines.
o Work with MSOs and 3rd party integration and testing teams in support of their test plans.
o Travel as required



REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory Skills
* Bachelor degree in technology related field (IT, CS, EE, ME etc.) or similar work related experience
* Applied knowledge of software development life cycle
* Knowledge and experience with broadband network architecture and equipment helpful (routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, SNMP, servers: DHCP, DNS, TFTP, TCP/IP, etc.)
* Minimum of 2 years experience with Cable, Satellite, Television, IPTV or streaming media testing and environment
* Familiar with testing methodologies, processes and tools (test plans/scripts, defect tracking/management)
* Administration and use of defect tracking tools (Bugzilla, HPQC, etc.)
* Scripting and programming knowledge for Set Top box automation helpful. Preferably in Python, however other similar scripting languages would be considered (i.e. Perl)
* Conceptual understanding of Video Transport Technologies (Multicast, ASI, RF, QAM)
* Knowledge of VOD functionality and technology.
* Working knowledge of XML structure and such concepts as parsing, querying and validation
* Working knowledge of SQL and Oracle PL/SQL
* Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating kernel and of basic Windows operating system environment
* Willingness to work onsite at various cable company locations
* Ability to travel as required
