Douglas County School District - Business Analyst

Responsibilities: Manages requests for process improvements, system enhancements, and the development and/or purchase of new software applications. Ensures that applications integrate into existing and planned infrastructure. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. Translate functional requirements into work breakdown structures, technical specifications, including GUI, screen and interface mock up designs. Synthesize and document requirements for projects, enhancements, new software, and strategic initiatives. Lead requirement gathering workshops, sessions and interviews. Facilitate the definition of scope, goals and deliverables for enhancements, new software applications and strategic initiatives. Communicate with project teams and clients, including presentations to large stakeholder groups. Listen to customer needs and explain complex technical issues and solutions in a plain and common descriptive manner. Provide suggestions and guidance to the development team during execution phase to ensure product will meet customer needs. Create functional test plans and coordinate testing for integrations, new applications, enhancements and upgrades. All applicants and District Transfers need to apply online. Requirements: MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING : Bachelor’s degree required. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years experience working as a Business Analyst implementing enterprise-wide applications. Three (3) years experience preparing, reviewing and documenting accurate and detailed functional requirements. Three (3) years experience creating technical specifications, work break down structures, user interface guides and detailed test plans for software developers. Two (2) years experience leading workshops, giving presentations to large audiences and facilitating meetings. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written, graphic and oral instructions.

Essential Job Competencies: SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Strong leadership, management and team building skills to effectively lead cross functional project teams. Must be able to work autonomously with little to no supervision. Understanding of Business Process Management, and ability to conduct business analysis and translate customer needs into technical specifications. Thorough understanding of and experience with the system development lifecycle. Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management. Excellent time management skills including the ability to effectively work on multiple projects at one time. Experience supporting a broad variety of business units, including human capital management, finance, and operations. Experience in education is preferred. Skilled in demonstrating innovation and creativity by continually improving internal processes. Champion and promote department policies throughout the District. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to effectively adapt to changing priorities, timeframes and team makeup. Experience in SQL Server and/or Oracle database environment preferred. Experience in Oracle E-Business Suite and/or Infinite Campus preferred. Technically proficient with Microsoft Office products and Google applications.
