Intrado - Database Administrator

Responsible for providing a quality, high performance database processing environment by defining assigned database tables and coordinating physical changes to computer databases in a timely manner while adhering to established departmental standards and procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.
Education

Associate's degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field is required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field is preferred.
Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements
Experience

Minimum one year experience in computer science or MIS required, preferably to include database administration experience
Technical Knowledge

Based on area of responsibility and departmental need, knowledge of: one program platform (Tandem OS, UNIX) is required and knowledge of SQL fundamentals in preferred (i.e., Tandem SQL, Informix, FOCUS, IBM DB2, NT SQL Server, etc.) is preferred. Oracle Streams, RAC, and Data guard experience preferred.

We are looking for an Oracle DBA with 3-5 years experience (or educational background). Other database experience like MYSql or MS Sql Server is a plus. Your role will be to conduct support and maintenance activities, work tickets to support our customer’s environments as well as participate in various project initiatives.
Skills/Background/Education
* A University degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related discipline
* Oracle 9/10/11 Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) DBA
* Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong orientation towards customer service.
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Experience
This a mid-level or intermediate level position.
* Ideally you have been part of a support organization and involved in implementation projects.
* Demonstrated experience supporting an Oracle environment on Linux, UNIX, or Windows.
* Experience working with project managers to implement new projects and resolve issues
* You have demonstrated experience liaising with customers of an IT organization.

Candidate will also provide support for additional systems providing recommendations for setup, layout and requirements. Ensure databases are accessible to mission critical applications, troubleshoot database related issues.

Candidate must have sufficient formal and/or information training experience in RDBMS administration and maintenance, database design, analysis, and management, extensive experience as a designer/information systems analyst, database manager or database administrator.
Responsibilities
* Manage corporate Oracle database architecture, interconnections, and schemas for the storage and retrieval of corporate information in a high transaction rate, mission critical 24x7 environments.
* Database planning, scaling, and capacity planning activities
* Database design, index creation, database optimization, and performance tuning
* Design and implement new data models, tables, and schemas to support new functionality as the business demands
* Administration and management of all database software patches and upgrades
* Ensure high availability, backup, and recovery of production databases
* Manage physical standby/failover servers in remote facilities
