Threat Research Analyst

Webroot is currently seeking a Threat Research Analyst for the following role:

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Conduct research to discover spyware/malware, creating
signatures to detect and identify installed malicious software
* Identify new distribution methods and techniques for removal
* Analyze information and develop methods of detection and removal
of spyware
* Script/Develop/Maintain tools to classify and organize large
sample collections
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously while quickly learning a
breadth of new concepts and technologies



REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



* 2+ years experience in a hands-on IT role
* 1+ years recent scripting experience (e.g. Perl, Python, Ruby)
and/or Programming experience (C/C++ or C# preferred)
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required
* Strong troubleshooting abilities, ability to work unsupervised



Windows-specific knowledge is a MUST, including:

* Understanding of Windows file/folder structures and file access
methods
* In-depth knowledge of the Windows Registry
* Knowledge of Windows Security features, including UAC, Windows
Firewall, DEP, user privileges



DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



Hands-on experience installing / managing / troubleshooting the
following:



* Personal Firewalls
* Anti-virus software
* Anti-spam software
* Anti-spyware software
* Utilities that monitor system changes, like regmon, filemon,
GOBACK, etc.
* Trojans
* System Monitors
* Adware
* Viruses
* Rootkits
* Keystroke Loggers
* VMWare
* Linux operating systems

Senior Software Development Engineer (Windows Client/UI)

Webroot is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer with experience
in C++ as well as some exposure to C#, Silverlight, AJAX, and/or .NET.
An object oriented development background and extensive experience
working with the Win32 API as well as Web-based front-end programming
experience is required. The Senior Software Developer performs product
design, bug verification, release testing, and beta support projects
which require cutting edge research and analysis. The ideal candidate
will participate and lead the decision making on the design and
implementation of solutions that employ leading-edge technologies,
providing OS system activity monitoring and protection. A high energy
level, the ability to set and achieve goals, and great interpersonal and
communication skills are essential. The rest; we are willing to provide
adequate training to allow the selected candidates to become experts
with the requisite Antispyware and Antivirus technologies.



RESPONSIBILITIES



* Must be able to research to come up with solutions that protects
users' machines.

* Design solutions to solve issues identified by requirements

* Estimate development schedules and determine project scope

* Write design and functional specs.

* Create code that meets design specifications, follows standards, is
easy to maintain and is reasonably free from defects

* Provides technical assistance and training to junior engineers and
other departments (such as QA and tech-writers)

* Capable of identifying and proposing areas of improvement
throughout the software development process

* Collaborates with team members located in multiple sites



REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



* 5+ years of technical experience in software design and development
on Windows platforms using Visual C++.

* 5+ years experience in object-oriented design/programming
principles (OOAD)

* AJAX, Silverlight, and/or WPF experience a strong plus

* Experience with .NET/C# preferred

* Must have a good understanding of Windows platform architecture

* 2+ years work experience developing in COM/COM+ and Win32

* 3+ years developing Win32 GUI applications for Windows platforms

* 1 year experience with communication protocols (HTTP, Sockets,
TCP/IP)

* Knowledge of security on Windows NT-based platforms (e.g.
Encryption, Admin Rights) a definite plus.
