ViaSat - Systems Engineer

In ViaSat’s team-oriented, fast-paced culture, you will be challenged every day as you work with cross-functional collaborative teams to be a key participant in the planning, design, implementation, configuration, optimization, and support of our large scale, complex WebLogic and SOA environment. You are flexible and can work on a rotating 24x7 technical support team. Using your keen engineering senses, you have the innate ability to understand and deal with complex problems as well as participate on the resolution team which solves escalated issues to maintain application stability. As a Middle Tier expert, you have proven success in analyzing and assessing systems architecture requirements with the keen ability to determine optimum, cost-effective solutions as well as evaluate and customize monitoring and diagnostic management tools.  


Experience/Skills Required

Requirements:

5+ years of hands-on experience administering, monitoring, and supporting large scale WebLogic, WebSphere, or JBoss environments. At least 2+ with WebLogic specifically

3+ years of hands-on experience administering, monitoring, and supporting large scale Red Hat environments

Solid understanding of Java and Web Development architectures

U.S. Citizenship

Bachelor’s degree


Preferences:

Extensive knowledge and prior work experience with Weblogic as well as Red Hat Linux

Software deployment in a software configuration management role 

Java with JAXB experience

Java basic working knowledge including troubleshooting and concepts

WLST/Jython

Working knowledge of Oracle Databases

Experience with SOA, Ant and Maven

Solid understanding of VMware and server virtualization

Experience with ensuring SOX/PCI compliance
