Data Network Engineer IV – Greenwood Village, CO




Cricket Communications is seeking a talented Data Network Engineer to
join our team in Greenwood Village, CO.

Essential Functions Job Summary:



Provides Tier 4 support for enterprise data network devices and
services. Supervises lower level engineers and provides advanced
technical direction and leadership through the planning and
implementation processes. Provides advanced network engineering and
consultation in the design, development and implementation of technical
products and network services and devices.



Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and/or CCIE level
certifications and 7-9 years of experience in the field or in a related
area. BSEE, BSCS preferred; CCIE or JNCIE Certifications preferred.



Required Industry Experience



· Network engineering and design in a large 24x7 operations
telecommunications environment



Preferred



· Prior experience with a wireless carrier or carrier grade
provider and its Network infrastructure, to include EVDO and VoIP



Required Job Experience



· Advanced knowledge with 7 years experience in a
high-performance datacenter with direct support and network services
engineering responsibilities.

· 24x7 operations experience required.

· Advanced knowledge of high-availability technologies.

· Advanced and proven experience achieving and maintaining
99.999% availability of networks and network services.



Advanced knowledge and 7 years experience of the following:



· Vendor Experience:

o Foundry - Big Iron, Fast Iron, or NetIron

o Cisco - 7200 6500, 7600, 900, 4500, PIX or FWSM

o Juniper - M or T Series and NetScreen Firewalls.

o Load Balancers - F5 Big IP, Foundry Server Iron, or Cisco CSS/CSM



· Layer 2 Experience:

o Spanning-Tree, including 802.1d and 802.1w

o Ether-channel

o 802.1q vlan tagging

o Dark Fiber with short, long, and extended reach optics

o CWDM or DWDM gear with Dark Fiber

o 10 Gig Ethernet

o WAN technologies to include T1, DS3, OC*, Packet over SONET, Frame
Relay

o MPLS experience at a carrier grade provider



· Layer 3 Experience:

o OSPF Routing including route redistribution

o BGP



· Advanced troubleshooting skills and effective
troubleshooting methods including:



· Architecture and Design:



· VOIP:

o Domain knowledge of VoIP (SIP, H.323)

o Advanced experience in Carrier Grade VoIP Network technologies and
implementations

o Monitoring design, network analysis and metric reporting to
establish bandwidth usage forecasting and network availability



Other Preferred Experience:



· Advanced experience in documenting on a wiki and in Visio
all network topology changes

· Customer Facing with excellent social skills

· Excellent written and communication skills

· Patience to adhere to best practices including maintenance
windows and change control procedures

· Ability to time-slice between multiple networks and
multiple customer requirements

· Ability to work on-call hours to respond quickly to issues
and outages providing advanced expertise to ensure the quickest MTTR
possible.

· Proven experience in mentoring peers and junior level
engineers and administrators
