DIRECTV's Castle Rock Broadcast Center is seeking a Systems Technician to join the Technical Services team in Castle Rock, Colorado. The Systems Technician's role is to support the stable operation of the Broadcast Monitoring and Control systems.

The Systems Technician will be responsible for the following.

•Planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing various control system hardware and software while ensuring minimal operational downtime.


•Diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.


•Collaborate with engineers to develop efficient, supportable control system designs, configurations and procedures.


•Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executables.


•Respond to monitoring and control system failures in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.


•Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for system maintenance and installation.


•Support development and implementation of monitoring and control system projects and new technology installations.


•Conduct research on new products, services, protocols, and standards in support of system enhancement and development efforts.


•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of support system contracts and vendor relations.


•Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot control and data systems in support of the broadcast system.


•Maintain all network hardware and equipment, including control computers, storage systems and database platforms.


•Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding monitoring and control problems.


•Recommend, schedule, and perform system improvements, upgrades, and repairs.


•Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring system health data.


•Liaise with, and provide training and support to, Technical Services staff on broadcast control system issues.



•Bachelors degree in computer science or applicable preferred and/or 6-8 years equivalent work experience.




•Working technical knowledge of current computer hardware, protocols, standards and operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, TCP/IP, NetBEUI, Linux, SMB, Solaris, QNX, HP-UX, and/or embedded applications, network appliances or server virtualization platforms required.




•Experience with enterprise level Network Monitoring Systems, BMC Remedy ticketing and change management products required.




•Background in relational SQL database systems, including Oracle, Informix, Sybase required.




•Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience required.




•Strong written and oral communication skills.





•Good interpersonal skills.
