SQA - Software Quality Assurance Engineer with experience in
Systems, Performance, Scripted & Automated Software Testing

Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in computer science or
electrical engineering.
Must have 4-6 years experience performing Software Quality
Assurance, with extensive knowledge of software development and SQA
processes, including test tool specification and development.
Must have a strong technical background, pay close attention to
detail, possess good written and verbal communication skills and be
highly organized.
Must be capable of creating or following Quality Engineering
policies and procedures, while supporting the needs of the software
and business development teams.
Experience with Test Scripts, System Testing, Performance Testing
and Automated Testing
Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, SQL Server, WHQL Certification
and Storage Systems experience a plus.

In a fast-paced FDA-regulated environment, provide quality assurance
for a wide range of applications used by internal customers (i.e.
company employees). Our small QA team works closely with the
development team to produce frequent releases for applications that
help manage the operations of a growing medical device manufacturing
company.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in the area of Computer Science, Engineering,
Business or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in software quality assurance or a
related field with at least 2 years of experience working in a
regulated environment, preferably FDA.
Minimum of 4 years of experience planning and conducting functional,
integration, system and regression tests on software systems.
Minimum of 4 years of experience writing software requirements
specifications, test plans, test scripts, bug reports and test
results reports. At least 2 years of experience writing these
documents to standards geared toward achieving regulatory compliance.
Sound working knowledge of GMP/IEEE/ISO 9000 standards for software
quality assurance.
Sound working knowledge of the following: relational database design
and technologies; SQL; programming structures; systems analysis and
design; object-oriented methodologies; application architectures;
networking protocols and technologies; Windows and Unix operating
systems; business productivity applications such as Microsoft Word,
Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems with minimal
direction from more senior personnel.
Ability to proactively identify customer business
problems/opportunities and recommend solutions.
Initiative to understand customers and their environment.

management procedures for both test and production environments

General Summary

Responsible for generating and executing test cases and scripts for
system and regression level testing to ensure that the software
release works as expected and does not degrade from the current
release. Work closely with department lead and other departments
within the company as well as outside partners to gain a solid
understanding of our products to ensure that we are delivering a
quality release to production. This position is based in the
Boulder, CO area.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

*Generate Test Case and Test Scripts for System Level and Regression
Level Testing to ensure that the release satisfies all defined
requirements.
*Execute and verify Regression Level Testing of existing software
that has been submitted to test for a new release or maintenance
release to ensure that it continues to function correctly.
*Execute and verify System Level Testing of new software releases
and changes made to existing software.
*Investigate problems fully and completely before informing
development to ensure that they are valid defects.
*Communicate issues to their supervisor that require immediate
attention.
Provide open communication with peers, development, and product
management regarding problems or enhancements to the software that
may affect our systems or clients.
Work with internal client representatives to gain a high level
understanding of the business process and how clients use our
software.
Complete tasks assigned to them by their supervisor with moderate
direction.

Job requirements:

All of our products employ some or all of the following technologies:

Low and high-level IP networking
Rich, capable browser-based UI (Firefox and IE)
SQL database (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle)
Java, C, C++, Python
Our own distribution of the Linux OS
Specific experience with the following is mandatory:

Test case and test plan management, creation, execution
Defect tracking systems and concepts
Familiarity with SQL databases including Postgres and MySQL or
Oracle
UNIX-like operating systems (Linux), Windows operating systems
Previous UI testing experience, ideally web-based
Shell scripting (bash, csh, etc.)
Other scripting, like with Perl or Python
Proven Test Automation Experience
Desired Experience

* Note - If you are strictly a Windows QA person with no experience
on a Linux or UNIX-like system, this position likely won't be a good
fit. We are seeking QA engineers with more experience in scripting
than pure classroom work. We work in a highly collaborative
environment that requires great communication and teamwork skills.
