Yieldex - Systems Engineer

We're looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineer to join a cross-functional systems and software team that builds the core of Yieldex's infrastructure. You'll bring your expert Linux administration and systems knowledge to collaboratively solve real-world problems. Many of the technical challenges faced by Yieldex are not available as prepackaged solutions, so we build it.

What level of volume are we talking about? Billions of impressions per month — the kind that requires hundreds servers in the hadoop cluster alone. For a company of our size, we manage an incredible percentage of internet traffic.

Yieldex has lots of fun, hard problems to solve that come with a handling large volumes of data nightly. We are constantly figuring out new, creative ways to make the system do what our customers expect and how to evolve the infrastructure to meet the exponential growth in the volume of data we’re processing.

Required Skills and Experience
 
Ability to manage a physical Linux server infrastructure. You'll be responsible for everything from procuring hardware to helping rack, cable and install. You are self-motivated and possess excellent Linux skills and task automation. You use tools for improving productivity, if one doesn't exist you build it, knowledge of scripting/building tools is essential. Practical knowledge of configuration management tools (chef/puppet). Monitor, monitor, monitor is your mantra. Monitor every aspect of the data center so you know before a component of infrastructure fails. A solid understanding of networking, good TCP/IP knowledge at a minimum. Experience with high performance scale-out networks and routing protocols is a plus. Experience administering Hadoop and other clustered systems. Experience administering MySQL and Oracle Experience managing multiple data center locations is a plus. Any certifications seen as a plus, not a prerequisite.
