VoIP Engineer
Job Description and Requirements
Plan, test, debug, implement, maintain custom VoIP based infrastructure. Responsibility primarily includes Sustenance Engineering, New devices Interop, Network Operations and handling Tier 3 escalations.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years of Telecom/Networking background a must (voice and data)
* Must be able to organize and manage multiple engineering projects at the same time.
* Comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
* Willingness to Travel (Domestic Only): 2-3 times a year.
* Will required to be On-call for after-hours support.
Technical Requirements:
* Thorough understanding of SIP protocol and related network components (Proxy, SBC, Softswitch, etc.)
* Thorough understanding of IP based network systems and protocols.
* Thorough understanding of ACME Packet SBC, Broadworks Broadsoft softswitch and Open Source PBX's like Asterisk, Freeswitch.
* Working knowledge of VoIP Edge devices like Edgewater, Adtran, etc.
* Working knowledge of Firewalls (Sonicwall, Fortinet, Cisco PIX.)
* Understanding of NAT, PAT, Firewall issues as they relate to VoIP.
* Ability to trace and troubleshoot VoIP sessions at the packet level.
* Working knowledge of Linux/Unix Shell Scripting, C, Perl, PHP.
* Working knowledge of IP - layer 3 protocol and UDP/TCP - layer 4 protocols.
* Experience with Cisco IOS Voice routers (Dial-Peer, SIP, ISDN, etc.)
* Experience in interfacing with call routing / rating / billing systems.
* Understanding of Linux based operating systems.
* Experience with RDBMS (MySQL a plus.)
* Experience with high availability clustering and load balancing.
* Experience with SNMP and network monitoring is a plus.
* CRM knowledge (Salesforce.com a plus) preferred
