The IT Architect acts as a technical relationship manager
between the Global Infrastructure Operations organization and client/product
development and/or application development teams.
Review new and existing IT projects within the distributed systems environment, particularly focusing on the middleware environment and how it relates to all IT infrastructure/applications. The outcome of this will provide procurement/outsourcing plans for compliance with IT standards and architectural direction.
Collaborate with operationally focused end users as well as senior management to define business requirements for complex systems development and gain buy-in for all infrastructure plans.
Provide architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to web engineers, network engineers, systems engineers, and application architects.
Specifically this role with focus on the middleware portion of the distributed systems infrastructure. They key is to be able to build synergy with existing infrastructure to maximize efficiencies through the use of middleware tools and standards.
Bring together all vertical platforms across the operational infrastructure using both existing tools and the development of new tools using industry middleware methodologies.

- Demonstrated advanced administration, configuration, and troubleshooting in
middleware and web servers such as WebSphere Application Server, JBoss, Apache,
Oracle Application Server, Tomcat and WebLogic.
- Tenured experience in driving global target architecture, standards, and
roadmaps in distributed hardware, operating systems, and cloud computing
environments.
- Superior knowledge of Unix (AIX, Solaris) / Linux/Windows,
Virtualization/VMware, x86-based computing platforms, network and fiber channel
based storage, disaster recovery, systems monitoring/ instrumentation/alerting,
performance management, OS provisioning, security, IP networking, security.
- Requires minimal direction from manager
- 12+ yrs. of related IT experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree. MBA is a plus.
- Financial sector experience a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to function as the business to IT
liaison
- Experience with shell scripting a plus
- Experience with WebSphere on zOS a plus
