Charles Schwab - Database Developer, SQL Developer

Organizational Objective/Purpose:
The Risk Analytics team is situated in Corporate Risk Management.  The team utilizes third party quantitative models to estimate the potential impact on Schwab’s financial statements resulting from various future economic outcomes.

Brief Description of Role:
Our Corporate Risk Management Team is looking for a Fixed Income Analytics Manager.  The Fixed Income Analytics Manager will be an individual contributor.  They will primarily focus on the development of a centralized database that supports fixed income modeling and analyses.

In addition, the incumbent will be involved in other projects that improve the existing market risk process, enhance reporting tools, and provide support for risk monitoring applications.

Specific Responsibilities include:

•Create a centralized database to consolidate a wide range of data sources used by the analytical team into a single source for analysis, subsequent back testing, stress testing, and other ad hoc analyses.
•Develop an analytic reporting structure that allows for generating different levels of reports.
•Develop an automated market (interest rate) risk and net interest income reporting process.
•Provide support and assistance with development of risk monitoring applications.
•Collaborate extensively within the Risk Analytics team and with different IT teams at Schwab.
Technical/Functional Qualifications:

•At least 3 years of experience in a professional software development role.
•Understanding of fixed income concepts required.
•Strong technical skills in SQL Server and ETL Tools required.
•Experience in reporting using Business Objects, Crystal Reports, and/or SSRS required.
•Experience working with Teradata databases and C#/VB .NET is desirable.
•Advanced Knowledge in MS Access, MS Excel / VBA is desirable.
•Familiarity with business intelligence and data warehousing concepts.
•Previous financial services industry experience is highly desirable.
•Ability to self-manage responsibilities.
•Excellent communication skills.

The Risk Analytics team is looking for a manager level resource to support the development of a centralized database for storing inputs and outputs for credit and market risk analyses to increase data quality, transparency and provide increased analytic capability.

In addition, the manager would be involved in other projects such as in the development of an improved GL reconciliation process, enhancement of reporting tools and providing support for risk monitoring applications.  This is an individual contributor role.

Specific responsibilities include:

•Creation of a risk data infrastructure to help consolidate the disparate data sources used by different analysts into a single source for analysis, subsequent back testing and stress testing.
•Development of an ad-hoc analytic reporting environment that allows for generating different levels of reports.
•Development of an automated GL reconciliation process.
•Providing support and assistance with development of new features for risk monitoring applications.
•Collaborate extensively with the Risk Analytics, Credit Risk Management and IT business partners at Schwab.

Technical/Functional Qualifications:

•Minimum 3 years of experience in a software development role.
•Strong Technical Skills in C#/VB .NET, SQL Server 2005 or above and ETL Tools (i.e. SSIS, Informatica) required.
•Experience in reporting using Business Objects, Crystal Reports, OLAP (SSAS) and/or SSRS required.
•Experience working with Teradata databases is highly desirable.
•Advanced Knowledge in MS Access, MS Excel / VBA is desirable.
•Familiarity with business intelligence and data warehousing concepts.
•Previous financial services industry experience is highly desirable.
•Ability to self-manage responsibilities.
•Excellent communication skills (i.e. should be able to directly interact with business partners and translate their needs into products).
•Comfortable working with remote business partners.
