HomeAdvisor is looking for a smart, driven Oracle PL/SQL Developer who can use his/her database development skills to help meet our business's needs and evolve our database technologies to support our ever-growing and changing business. Ultimately, this person will have the unique opportunity to develop Oracle DDL, DML, and DCL statements, stored procedures, and data models that support all of our internal and external-facing Java web-based applications, HomeAdvisor.com and our mobile applications. The ideal candidate will possess expert optimization skills and have a passion for creating efficient PL/SQL code.
What we do:
HomeAdvisor, recently named one of Denver's Top Workplaces by the Denver Post, is an online marketplace connecting homeowners to pre-screened and rated home improvement specialists in their areas. We're an IAC company, joining Match.com, Ask.com, and others in a wide portfolio of highly successful internet brands. We're one of Denver's largest internet companies, with our headquarters nestled in the Rocky Mountain foothills near Golden.
Why we think it's pretty cool to work here:
- We focus on your productivity – whether you need a different OS on your workstation, a new development tool, or 5 minutes to play some ping-pong, if it helps you get more done, we'll get you what you need.
- We want you to grow – what technology do you want to work with? What responsibilities do you want? You ask, and we'll let you play.
- At HomeAdvisor, we have a progressive ": take what you need": paid time-off policy. Instead of accruing vacation and/or sick time, you literally take the time you need to recharge.
Experience and Skills:
Some knowledge that you'll have to prove:
- 3+ years in IT in a development environment, with at least 2 years of recent work with Oracle databases as a PL/SQL Developer, Oracle SQL Developer, or DBA
- Highly proficient and comfortable with SQL tuning best practices
- Knowledge of Oracle Database Internals (catalog views, SQL execution, Explain Plans, etc.)
- Oracle certifications are a bonus
In addition, superstars on our team have:
- The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with key business partners to understand their requirements.
- Excellent communication skills across the board, and the ability to interact with people at all levels of an organization.
- The ability to understand and think through abstract problems and contribute innovative development solutions.
- The ability to admit when they don't know the answer, they make a mistake, or they need help.
- A good sense of humor (undeniable Nerf dart accuracy and/or mad ping-pong/foosball/shuffleboard skills can go a long way too).
Think you can handle this job? Send us your resume and find out.
