comprised of experienced professionals dedicated to providing customers
with an unparalleled level of service delivering content and programming
for over 100 customers every day, including over 16 million
subscribers.
Summary: The senior manager will be a key member of the
engineering team, leading a group of engineers responsible for planning,
developing, and testing software in a multi-platform environment using
cutting-edge technology. The senior manager will lead multiple highly
visible projects of key strategic importance. The manager will work
with system administrators, security analysts, product management and
clients to ensure we produce high quality products that exceed
expectations. This is a challenging and also very rewarding position
involving interesting projects in the entertainment media industry.
Role Responsibilities
* Lead multiple strategic projects which have visibility at the highest levels of the organization
* Lead a team of developers responsible for products that support a large and diverse broadcast engineering environment
* Work with product owners, architects, engineers, operations, and
various stakeholders to develop and deliver a development roadmap
* Troubleshoot infrastructure functionality and performance issues
* Contribute to software process improvements to increase software maturity
* Communicate status and concerns to individuals at all levels of the organization
* Be an evangelist for our agile methodology
* Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and
oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
Basic Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
* 12+ years professional software engineering experience
* 4 - 6 years of experience managing software engineers in embedded, multi-tier service, and client-server technologies
* 5+ years of Agile process experience (Scrum, XP, etc)
Preferred Qualifications
* Expertise in several of the following technologies/concepts
* Object Oriented Design and programming techniques
* Functional design and programming techniques
* Service-Oriented Architecture, APIs, WCF, REST
* Distributed caching, Threading, Message brokering
* SQL Server, Transact-SQL, Query optimization
* Java MVC (Spring, Struts, JSF, etc.)
* C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework
* HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
* Linux / UNIX operating system management experience
* Network administration experience
* Demonstrated success leading distributed teams
* Demonstrated success leading product development
* Experience coaching, developing, and mentoring others
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating
the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of
the organization.
* Experience with software processes and process improvements
