HomeAdvisor is currently looking for a smart, motivated, and energetic Junior Network Engineer to join our Systems and Network support team overseeing both our corporate WAN/LAN and our production website. We're looking for someone who has started walking the network engineer path and is ready to accelerate that trip.

What is HomeAdvisor, anyway?
HomeAdvisor, recently named one of Denver's top workplaces by the Denver Post, is an online marketplace connecting homeowners to pre-screened and rated home improvement specialists in their areas. Since 1999, more than 25 million homeowners have turned to use for help. We're one of Denver's largest internet companies, with our headquarters nestled in the Rocky Mountain foothills near Golden.

Why we're one of Denver's best:
- At HomeAdvisor, your career path is what you make it - when you ask for more responsibility, you'll get it. When you have ideas, we'll listen.
- Your teammates are passionate about their work, and strive to be experts in their field. They'll push you, too.
- Ping Pong. Foosball. Pinball. Shuffleboard. ": Take what you need": paid time off policy and flexible scheduling. What more do you need?

How you'll help us:
- Primary responsibility for VLAN/layer2 support across LAN infrastructure including monitoring, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and upgrades. Assist with designing, configuring and troubleshooting LAN and WAN networks, including wired, wireless, voice and data environments.
- Install and test network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) and associated physical cabling.
- Assist Network Engineer in managing firewall, VPN, load balancer and access management system rules.
- Assist in developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems.
- Manage asset management/inventory for all network equipment, along with associated documentation maintenance.
- Monitor, back-up and analyze network infrastructure. Recommend/implement changes to improve reliability, resiliency, and/or performance.
- Participate in Tier 2 on-call rotation and respond to Tier 2 escalations (one week of every five).
- Work closely with other departments and collaborate with other IT staff.

What we'll be looking for:
- 2 years experience working in design, configuration, installation, testing, and maintenance of local and wide area computer wired networks.
- 2 years experience with Cisco IOS and/or NX-OS on current Cisco network products.
- Must have knowledge of common networking protocols and services, including DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP, NTP, and SSL.
- Good judgment and troubleshooting skills when dealing with production-impacting changes and problems: a cool head when things don't go as planned.
- Disciplined approach to maintenance and upgrades - you need to be able to accurately document and execute any and all proposed changes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as impeccable listening skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Bonus points:
- Familiarity with LAMP infrastructure a plus.
- Experience managing storage infrastructure, direct-attached, SAN or NAS, is a plus.
- Network certification highly preferred (CCNA, Network+, RHCE, MCSA).
- Familiarity with application load balancers, firewalls, VPN and virtualization technology is a plus.
