This person must have DBA skills, the ability to think and communicate both strategically and tactically, and a proactive approach to ensure success of both personal and team deliverables. Must be able to analyze business and technical requirements. Need to ensure the accuracy, reliability and scalability of the data. Success requires initiating and performing changes in development and production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.


SQL Server DBA *2nd shift


*This is a second shift position. Candidate must be able to work second shift working hours which are approximately from 4 p.m. to midnight and will include one weekend day within the rotation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:  

* 5+ years' experience of core database administration in a SQL Server environment.

* knowledge of database performance tuning and Transact-SQL.

* knowledge or SQL Server Cluster administration and support.

* Experience in implementing and enhancing operational automation using scripts.

* Experience with system integration.

* Work with application developers to design SQL databases, estimate proper table sizes, and document all aspects of the database.

* Responsible for the production deployment of stored procedures including code review; maintain proper source control for all database and stored procedure changes.

* Must have in-depth and hands-on experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems, including working with 3rd party support towards resolution.

* Experience with backups, restores and recovery models; demonstrated knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server .

* Ensure continuous 24 x 7 x 365 database operation.

* Maintain clustered servers running SQL Server in regards to availability, recoverability, and performance.

* Setup and configure MS SQL databases and maintain the database performance criteria; perform daily monitoring of database performance

* Develop and maintain proper security of the database, including access for changes, application access, and end-user interfaces that meets regulatory requirements; must have a strong commitment to maintain the security and data modeling standards set forth by the company

* Diagnose and troubleshoot problems as they arise with the database, including poor performing stored procedures or applications; work with developers to do performance tuning of stored procedures

* Experience working with MS Windows server , including Active Directory and optimal environment configurations

* Must be highly organized, a self-starter, and have excellent project management skills

* Must possess initiative and strong teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Solid understanding of systems architecture, systems testing, and software development best practices; experience with Software Development Life Cycle.
