DIRECTV, the nation's leading and fastest growing Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
and High Definition Television (HDTV) service provider is looking for a
talented, energetic, and motivated IT Operations Principal 1 to join the Data
Center Orchestration (DCO) Team.
The IT Operations Principal 1 candidate will
work as a member of the Data Center Orchestration Services team. This team is
responsible for providing support, maintenance, and enhancement services for
selected products of the Infrastructure Applications department. The Operations
Orchestration (OO) is the primary tool in the DIRECTV Data Center Automation
(DCA) suite. The client utilizes DCO to automate the server provisioning and the
change management process in DIRECTV's cloud computing and other data center
environments.
Candidate will maintain and administer all aspects of the Data
Center Orchestration. As an experienced specialist with strong technical and
analytical skills, one will be providing orchestration services in 24x7 open
system environments. Supporting technologies Operation Orchestration (OO),
Network Automation (NA), Server Automation (SA), and Business Service Automation
Essentials (BSAE) are necessary.
The candidate will spend time supporting
the operations and work with end-users to troubleshoot and resolve issues with
existing operations. Knowledge of industry experience/knowledge to help mature
the use of DCO in DIRECTV's environment is required.
The Data Center
Orchestration Services Team operates on a 24x7x365 basis; on-call/off-hour may
be required.
This position will be located at our Englewood, Colorado office;
local candidates are preferred.
Essential Duties:
* Experience with Data
Center Orchestration, OO, NA, SA version 7.5 or higher is necessary and high
availability configurations of these tools.
* Basic experience in designing,
implementing, and maintaining OO flows.
* Effectively troubleshoots and
resolves incidents related to flows and operations in DCO.
* Support installs
and configurations of OO, SA, and NA products.
* Experience deploying,
configuring, operationally maintaining and scaling OO, NA, and SA for large
environment, business critical applications.
* Skills to debug low level
operating system, networking, and application problems.
* Ability to train
peers in the use, administration, and customization of OO, NA, and SA
products.
* Customize and extend Data Center Automation products (OO, NA, and
SA) based on business requirements.
* General knowledge and experience with
Linux (RedHat), UNIX (HPUX), and Windows operating systems.
* Develop Python
scripts, Shell scripts, PERL scripts, Visual Basic scripts, and batch files for
automation of system and application administration.
* Develop custom
applications using the DCO APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and
industry standard programming languages to meet business needs.
* Computer
Associates (CA) Service Desk experience is required.
* HP Openview Suite
(OMU, BAC, NNM, UCMDB) skills are essential.
* Oracle database and VMware
Virtual Infrastructure knowledge is helpful.
* Highly tuned problem solving
and analytical skills is necessary for this position.
* Provide expertise in
troubleshooting and critical problem resolution.
* Initiate and maintain
service desk tickets to include receiving or identifying incident/problem, track
process, find resolution, make necessary correction to the incident/problem
area, and close ticket.
* Support the ITIL model for best practices of IT
processes.
* Create reports for metrics of system incidents, problems, and
requests for all DCO products and distribute to appropriate members.

Troubleshoot hardware and software incidents both locally, and remotely.

Assist with various projects relating to the DCO OO, SA, and NA tools.

Maintain quality control and customer service; work with vendors, and customers
internal/external.
* Follow established polices and processes; improve
process documentation in areas of responsibility.
* Take ownership of
assigned tasks and drive to completion; provide status and follow-up as
needed.
* Attend appropriate meetings.
* Candidate may be required to be
on call; must be willing to support flexible working hours, including nights and
weekends.
* Candidate may also be required to participate in the weekly
on-call rotation; frequent overtime may be necessary.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's, Master's degree preferred in
Computer Science, 2 years of functional experience, or its equivalent
* ITIL
certified in at least basic foundation or higher levels
* Ability to work
varying shifts with 4 year's customer service related experience
* May
supervise others within the team
* Expert skills of Microsoft Office
suites
* Excels in Information Technology in a large distributed data center
environment
* 2 years professional experience with Data Center Orchestration
tools
* System administration and debugging experience on at least two of the
following platforms: Windows, Solaris, Linux, AIX, HP-UX
* Network
configuration and troubleshooting on large IP networks
* Automation of common
tasks with PERL, Python, Shell scripts, VB scripts, and batch files
*
Experience with software packaging (e.g. RPM, MSI, etc.) and software
distribution
* Performance monitoring, system tuning, high availability, and
capacity planning experience
* Excellent verbal and written communication
skills
* Experience writing technical documentation
* Support for the
environment 24 X 7
* Some travel may be necessary (5%)
* Must be
