organization. In light of this expansion, we have an opportunity for a
Lead Database Administrator. The successful candidate will have strong
development experience integrating data technologies with one or more
high-level programming languages such as PHP, C++, or Java particularly
focusing on code that interfaces with a relational database. In
addition, the ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing
database schemas, designing, coding, and debugging stored procedures,
and performing database optimizations. The successful candidate will
participate in the implementation of solutions that employ leading-edge
technologies. A high energy level, the ability to set and achieve
goals,
and great interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Design database schemas and optimize database design

* Design, develop, and test stored procedures, triggers and views

* Develop and/or inspect high-level code (C++/Java) performing
database queries and/or stored procedure calls

* Design and develop database transformation scripts (to assist with
product upgrades)

* Estimate development schedules and determine project scope

* Create code that meets design specifications, follows standards,
easy to maintain and is reasonably free from defects

* Provides technical assistance and technical training to other
departments as required such as documentation and QA teams

* Capable of identifying and proposing areas of improvement
throughout
the software development process

* Works with Documentation to see that all enhancements, bug fixes,
and new products are documented

* Uses source control for the appropriate data objects.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



* 5+ years work experience developing applications that utilize
relational databases

* 3+ years work experience in one or more high-level programming
languages (C++ or Java preferred)

* 2+ years experience designing database schemas and performing
database optimizations

* 2+ years work experience using Microsoft SQL Server

* 2+ years experience developing applications for Windows XP/2K/2K3
based platforms

* Knowledge of proper database normalization, indexing, transaction
protection, and locking is essential

* Experience with application-database connectivity (ODBC, JDBC,
OLEDB, etc.)



HIGHLY DESIREABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



* Develop stored procedures, triggers, user defined functions, and
views

* Strong knowledge and experience using Transact-SQL including
writing
complex queries for ad-hoc reporting and data analysis

* Proficient knowledge of data modeling concepts and formalized
database design including creating tables, indexes, and enforcing data
integrity

* Experience writing complex DTS packages

* Experience designing ETL processes

* Ability to write technical specifications, test plans, and
migration
plans

* Knowledge and experience using several lifecycle development
methodologies

* DBA (database administration) experience is a strong plus

* Experience with embedded or dedicated databases such as MSDE
(Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Edition) or MySQL is a strong plus

* Knowledge of one or more additional databases including MySQL,
Oracle, Sybase, or DB2 is a strong plus

* Experience working on a commercial Enterprise-level product with a
database back-end is a strong plus
