eBags - Oracle DBA

The Oracle DBA is responsible for administering the production, test and development databases within eBags in order to achieve the required availability, performance, security and physical design needed to support the business goals of the enterprise.

Job Responsibilities
·        Daily administrative tasks associated with all database instances (i.e., production, test and development) spanning both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
·        Define, document and enforce best practices around database availability, security and performance.
·        Enforce best practices for planned releases of DDL, DML, triggers, procedures, etc. as well as ad hoc updates against production database instances.
·        Support and improve upon existing high availability and backup & recovery processes.
·        Perform patches and upgrades as needed across the database environment.
·        Proactively monitor all database instances for the purpose of finding issues with space, errors & exceptions, instance performance and statement & object performance.
·        Work directly with business area owners and development team members to design logical data models that meet business requirements while maintaining consistency and extensibility across the entire data architecture.
·        Design the physical data architecture to be highly performant and consistent with the goals of the logical design.
·        Perform database replication across test and development instances in support of ongoing development projects and weekly release schedules.
·        Design and implement data load, replication and transformation processes for the purpose of master data management across production database instances.
·        Enforce consistent, meaningful and extensible architecture standards, object naming standards and coding standards.
·        Document and improve upon key processes for the purpose of repeatability and efficient execution.
·        Work in an on-call rotation with other DBA’s.
  
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
·        Demonstrated knowledge of relational database availability, performance, and security principles, concepts, and tools
·        Demonstrated knowledge and skill with database backup and recovery models, processes, and utilities
·        Demonstrated knowledge of current DBMS products, primarily Oracle 11g, 12c and MS SQL Server, as well as knowledge of related technologies, applications, and processes
·        Proficient with database performance monitoring tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager
·        Proficient with SQL, PL/SQL, packages, procedures, triggers, etc.
·        Proficient with data modeling tools
·        Proficient with both Linux and MS Windows OS commands
·        Proficient with ETL solutions like MS SSIS a plus
·        Strong interpersonal, analytical, and logical skills
·        Strong communications, writing, and presentation skills
·        Proven ability to communicate on a business and technical level
·        Must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-tasking, and results-focused environment
·        Ability to work in an on-call rotation
·        Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little supervision
  
Experience and Education Requirements
·        3+ years of DBA experience, primarily in Oracle but also some MS SQL Server environments
·        2+ years of experience administering high availability, high performance, and high transaction processing database environments on both Oracle and MS SQL Server platforms
·        1+ years of experience conducting performance monitoring and tuning operations within Oracle and MS SQL Server environments
·        1+ years of experience administering security protocols within Oracle and MS SQL Server environments
·        1+ years of experience with logical data modeling and data architecture in support of medium to large software development projects a plus
·        1+ years of experience with designing and implementing ETL processes as well as with data initialization, loading, and conversion projects a plus
·        1+ years of experience creating and maintaining database documentation, diagrams, and procedures
·        Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experience
