Primary responsibilities include administration of Java messaging and application environment on Progress Sonic Enterprise Service Bus & MQ platform (experience on similar product platforms acceptable). Position requires participation in all stages of system operations including analyzing, designing, modifying, debugging and supporting system/software for internal applications using Progress Software*s Sonic Enterprise Service Bus & MQ technologies.
Responsibilities:
* Install, configure, administrate and support the Progress Software Sonic Enterprise MQ\Service Bus (ESB) and Oracle*s WebLogic Application Server software packages, amongst others.
* Proactively manage all installations of these packages for maximum functionality, performance and stability (patching, capacity management, performance tuning, integration with other packages, high-availability configurations, etc.)
* Analyze system and application architecture to ensure that all functional and non-functional (performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and configurability) requirements addressable by these packages are met.
* Explain designs and mentor team members on how to best support these packages and the associated applications utilizing these technologies.
* Evaluate and select tools and technologies needed for efficient support of the systems.
* Determine, document and teach operational support standards and best practices.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that applications are properly tested, configured, and deployed.
* Participate in on-call support rotational schedule, performing root cause analysis of software related issues and applying remedies to restore functionality.
* Interact with customers/users to support software acceptance process and act as a liaison between development and users; investigate and report problems.
Requirements:
* BS degree in Computer Science or related engineering field
* 5+ years of relevant working experience.
* Excellent knowledge of Progress Software Sonic Enterprise Service Bus and WebLogic Application Server administration and support. (experience with similar messaging and service-based platform acceptable)
* Working knowledge of Java Messaging (JMS) and J2EE application runtime required.
* Working knowledge of other ESB systems (Mule ESB, JBoss ESB, Websphere ESB) a plus.
* Working knowledge of Informatica software a plus.
* Working knowledge of FileNet P8 software a plus.
* Working knowledge of web server software (SunONE/iPlanet) a plus.
* Proficient in Unix, Linux, Windows operating systems
* Proficient in programming and/or shell scripting (e.g. Java, perl, ksh, tcsh)
* Working knowledge of Linux (RedHat) and Unix (Solaris 10).
* Familiarity with Oracle 10g/11g, and Sybase ASE databases a plus.
* Ability to learn, apply and explain new tools and technologies quickly.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio tools.
* Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
