Software Quality Engineer
The QE Engineer Responsibilities include: regression testing; functional testing; impact testing; architecture; performance testing. Develop, execute and update test plans/test scripts, test cases, identify serious issues, defects and deviation from user specifications in applications. Prepare status and statistical reports to communicate test results on an ongoing basis to user development & management.
Skill Set/Experience in:
* Proficient in at least one of C, UNIX shell, Perl, or python
* Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
* Ability to work on complex projects involving large teams
* General proficiency with UNIX-style operating systems
* Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
* Interest in learning how things are designed to work and finding ways to make them break
* Ability to demonstrate drive, persistence and personal ownership of assignments
* Teamwork: providing encouragement and contributing equally as a team leader and team member
* 4+ years in software development as developer / QE / QA
Desirable skills:
* Strong knowledge of test methodology and practices
* Solaris test, system administration, or development experience
* Creative/devious approaches to breaking software
* Previous test experience on an operating system, database, or other large/complex collection of interrelated software
* Experience writing test documentation (test plans, test specifications, test reports, defect reports, etc.)
The QE Engineer responsibilities include:
* Review product requirements and design specifications for new features being introduced into the Solaris operating system
* Develop high level test plans and detailed test specifications
* Define and document test cases to exercise the product to reveal potential defects
* Work closely with product engineering teams
* Implement new automated test suites and maintain existing suites
* Execute automated and manual tests, analyze output, and report results
* Identify serious issues, defects, and deviation from specifications
* File bug reports providing detailed descriptions of the defects found and how to reproduce them
* Provide status reports
* Review test documentation and test suite source code to insure that tests are of high quality and provide necessary coverage
* Train new hires and junior engineers
* Provide assessment of product quality at key milestones to project leaders, QA and management
* Participate in scheduling of target dates for deliverables, prioritizes and monitors activities to meet such dates
