Tri-State is a Denver based progressive and rapidly growing non-profit consumer owned wholesale supplier of electric power to forty-four distribution cooperatives in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and New Mexico. With over 1100 employees, Tri-State operates and maintains fossil fuel power plants with owned coal-fired capacity of 1826 megawatts, gas turbines with 526 megawatts of capacity, and over 5000 miles of high voltage transmission lines.
Responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and providing engineering support for development of the transmission system including planning coordination of Member system plans.
(Requirements listed below are for Senior Engineer position. Requirements for the Engineer I - III are similar but less in overall experience.)
· Bachelor's degree in related Engineering discipline with Electrical Engineering preferred.
· Eight (8) years of related electric utility experience in transmission system planning to include system analysis and planning methods, project coordination, and supervisory experience desired.
· Registered Professional Engineer, desired.
· Extensive knowledge of electric utility functions.
· Working knowledge of government regulations affecting utilities.
· Working knowledge of budget preparation and administration.
· Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, including public speaking.
· Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
· Willingness to travel as necessary. (Possession of valid driver's license or ability to obtain.)
· General knowledge of RUS policy requirements, desired.
· General knowledge of computers and computer programming, desired.
