The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for implementing and
supporting server, workstation, printer and automation support
systems, and other projects. Works independently on server,
workstation and automation projects under minimal supervision.
Working with the Technology Services staff, the analyst will prepare
project statuses, plan and implement procedures and make
recommendations to enhance network and systems performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports server, PBX, workstation and LAN system.
- Ensures that CHI receives cost effective and reliable technical
services in all locations.
- Participates in the development of system-wide server, desktop and
networking standards.
- Maintains accurate documentation for all devices consistent with
CHI policies.
- Works with Network Design, Systems and Operations staff to develop
policies and procedures related to the implementation and support of
core network infrastructure. Follows system-wide server,
workstations, networking and integration standards, policies and
procedures.
- Works with other technology staff for Application Development
projects and participates in project planning.
- Participates in activities to evaluate new technology developments
and applications.
- Maintains professional knowledge of current trends and
developments in the information technology and healthcare field.
Education:
Degree from an accredited college or university in information
systems, business, or computer science preferred.
Technical experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
Experience:
Minimum of five years experience in an information systems
environment.
Must have demonstrated knowledge and/or skills in the following
areas:
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Detailed knowledge of server technologies.
- Detailed knowledge of desktop technologies.
- Detailed knowledge of networking LAN technologies.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP workstation,
2000 Server, TCP/IP and DNS architecture.
- Working knowledge and hands-on experience with personal computers,
Internet/intranet protocols and standards, Microsoft Office Suite
and Microsoft BackOffice Products. Working knowledge of Citrix
Winframe and Metaframe preferred.
License/Certifications:
A+ and Network +, higher certifications preferred.
Work experience may be substituted for certifications.
