Prism Group is currently seeking two Senior Voice NOC Technicians for
positions in Denver. Ideal candidates will have the following

* Shift leadership for Voice and Managed Modem products.
* Create, document, and train on process, technology, triage/repair,
etc.
* Responsible for overall proactive network monitoring, repair, and
maintenance for Managed Modem and Voice platforms.
* Responsible for the repair or coordination of the repair for all
network monitored elements including circuit switching, VOIP, and Soft
Switch components
* Act as the central point of contact for all Voice and Managed Modem
Operations issues to include event notification, coordination,
conferencing event reporting, etc. Calculate failed/blocked calls
during
network events/outages.
* Repair coordination related to Voice Carrier maintenance, Voice
Trunking, Voice Traffic Management.
* Perform maintenance activities such as tape backups, card
replacements, and patching as necessary.
* Coordinate all server related repairs and analysis with Tier 3
personnel.
* Coordinate maintenance activities on multiple network elements.
* Coordinate event management to restoration of service.
* Monitor and implement restore actions for SS7 network.
* Open and dispatch Clarify cases for Access group issues.
Work with the Access/IP/Transport NOCs, Field, SMC, SBU, Tier 3, and
others to rapidly restore and maintain the network.
Continually strive to improve network availability, switch
availability, Defects Per Million, MTTR, and other quality
measurements.

RESULTS/OUTCOMES:

* Monitoring multiple network elements and service simultaneously using
Network Management system(s) - 20% TIME SPENT
* Create, Manage, and close network tickets - 10% TIME SPENT
* Isolate root cause for all known Voice/Soft Switch network element
issues - 20% TIME SPENT
* Conduct repair activity to restore service - 10% TIME SPENT
* Training - 20% TIME SPENT
* Manage events amongst multiple groups 20% TIME SPENT


GENERAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal candidates must have: Proven history of technical leadership.
Strong understanding of voice network topology and how network
elements
and services interconnect. Strong background in Co-Carrier trunks,
FGD, DS0, DS3, TANDEM, End office switches, PRI, and SS7 signaling.
Familiar with the use of network management systems. Requires
ability to
react quickly, appropriately, and efficiently during extremely
stressful
situations and communicate effectively with senior personnel. Ideal
candidates are highly organized and multi-task oriented. Position is
on a
24 x 7 operations team and thus the ability to work varying shift
schedules and overtime as needed is required.
Ideal candidates will be proficient in many of the following areas:
Proficient in navigating through various menu levels in the DMS 250.
Strong understanding of Lucent NAS, Soft Switch, RADIUS, DNS, Cisco
Switches, Cisco Routers, Juniper Routers, Terminal servers, SONUS GSX,
SGX,
PSX/CRE, NFS, EMS. Advanced Unix skills to monitor and utilize log
files to troubleshoot issues, investigate hardware issues, manipulate
and
reconfigure log files. Perform maintenance of file systems as
required.
Unix scripting to assist in evaluating performance, log files, and
automation agents. Familiar in the use of network management tools
including but not limited to INET, NTV, LEGOS, SNIPS, Bigger Smarter
Brother,
SONUS EMS, Switch Admin, and Unix monitoring scripts. Familiarity with
Clarify ticketing system is preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Proficiency in many of the following: Nortel DMS 250, Nortel Previsor,
Nortel Preside, Netcool, Lucent TNTs / APXs Network Access Servers
(NASs), SS7, IP, Unix, Telnet, Radius, IPDC, SIP, Viper SoftSwitch,
Sonus
SoftSwitch, Media Gateways, INET SS7 Monitoring System, Signaling
Transfer Points (STPs), OSPF, RIP, GATED, VoIP.
MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Brio, ProClarity,
ProcessNet, Clarify, Remedy.
Planning, communication, and good writing skills are essential.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Telecommunications, NOC environment, Soft Switches, VoIP, UNIX, SS7,
IP, demonstrated past leadership experience

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associates/Bachelor degree in a technical field or equivalent work
experience in telecommunications (3 to 5 years)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Typical Office Environment
Shift work in Network Operations Center(position supports 24x7
operation)
