The consumer broadband service delivers affordable two-way Internet access via satellite to virtually any home or small business, especially the estimated 11.5 million homes not connected to wired networks, such as DSL, cable, and fiber.
We are looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer, with a focus on WebLogic, to refine the design, test, implement, install, operate, troubleshoot, optimize, support, and maintain integrity and security of existing, and new as needed, WebLogic platforms. The Sr. Systems Engineer must demonstrate advanced proficiency in the planning, technical expertise, and direction regarding computer and network services for both local and wide area networks. The candidate must thoroughly understand business operations and provide the customers (internal and external) with accurate technical counsel, and supply solutions that satisfy ongoing business requirements. The candidate must maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network system technologies, architectures, and products. The candidate will individually, or as part of a team, perform product evaluation and business case preparation. He/she will provide technical guidance to development projects, and assess requirements as they relate to our client’s network. Most tasks assigned are complex and difficult and require significant planning and testing. The Sr. Systems Engineer is expected to maintain currency with technology and be recognized by industry peers as a Subject Matter Expert in his/her field.
Job Responsibilities:
• Key participant in the ongoing design, implementation, configuration, optimization, and support of large scale, complex Middleware solutions.
• Provide rotating 24x7 technical support and complex problem resolution on escalated issues while monitoring and maintaining application stability
• As required, analyze and assess systems architecture requirements and determine optimum, cost effective solutions.
• Collaborate with internal/external teams to identify technical and support advancements.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to enhance platform reliability such as monitoring, tools, process and best practices.
• Contribute architecture and design considerations for new installations or architectural changes to existing.
• Mentor team members providing guidance as needed based on observations and requests as necessary in conjunction with formal group training sessions.
• Work closely with Vendors to evaluate & track bug fixes and service packs evaluating both benefit and risk.
Experience/Skills Required
The qualified candidate will possess the following skills, education and/or certifications:
Required Skills:
· 5+ years combined design, support, and administration experience in Weblogic.
· 5+ years of Linux or UNIX experience (Red Hat or Solaris preferred).
· 3+ yrs Java experience combining development, testing and troubleshooting.
· 3+ Years development or support experience with Oracle or SQL.
Desired Skills:
· Solid understand of mature Configuration Management processes.
· Proficient in scripting technologies (Perl, Shell, etc.).
· Solid understanding of SOA concepts and implementations.
· Experience building, configuring, and implementing Weblogic domains with WLST scripts
· Experience analyzing GC patterns of JRocket/SunJDK
· Experience with JVM thread dump analysis
· Proficient using SOAPUI or other tools to test SOAP/REST Web Service APIs
· Proficient knowledge of Java build tools such as ANT and/or Maven.
· Basic knowledge of PL/SQL and Java JDBC connection pools
· Experience with Apache HTTP configuration/operation in production environments
· Experience with monitoring systems (e.g. Groundworks/Nagios) and building custom service checks.
· Experience with XML Schema/Translation and Java XML parsing APIs (SAX, JAXB, etc.)
Work Environment:
