SUMMARY: Provide analysis, design and technical administration support for Oracle Applications and data base environment that is used to support the Laboratory’s business processes. Evaluate and configure complex application system components and the supporting database and operating system functions. Analyze and respond to a variety of complex issues that require in-depth theoretical, technical and functional knowledge.



NREL uses Oracle Applications Version 11i (11.5.10.2) to support its business applications with the following modules: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Cash Management, Inventory, Assets, Project Costing and Human Resources. In addition, NREL has developed a number of custom programs to interface Oracle Projects to other modules (GL, Inventory) and to custom applications written in Oracle Forms / Reports that integrate with these core application modules. NREL is looking for someone with both functional understanding of the configuration requirements and integration dependencies of these Oracle modules plus technical skills to test, review, modify and implement database and application changes / patches needed to provide support to NREL’s production Oracle 11i environment.



DUTIES:
· Provide Oracle Applications systems administration functions and be primarily responsible for moving approved changes of Oracle procedures, forms and reports into the production environment.

* Research and troubleshoot application issues and performance bottlenecks.
* Apply Oracle Application software patches to fix problems reported to and resolved by Oracle Corporation and/or other software vendors.

· Perform updates of the Oracle Applications development and test instances for the development team to use in programming and testing efforts.

* Perform upgrades tasks for major enhancement releases to Oracle Applications (e.g., Financials, Project Accounting, Human Resources).
* Monitor Oracle application and database system performance
* Perform back-ups of the databases that support NREL business systems
* Monitor and assist in the development of automated workflows for electronic processing activities.
* Install, upgrade and maintain third party software that supports business applications. (Hyperion, Informatica, etc)
* Uses project management methodologies, tools and industry best practices to provide clear and updated project plans and status to management and team members
* Understands business requirements and determines database and systems configuration requirements for implementing Oracle Application modules and/or other integrated systems using best business practices and commonly known application implementation techniques
* Participates in the design and integration strategies necessary for accessing/integrated data that resides in disparate application systems or computing environments
* Designs/implements system administration procedures that are flexible, efficient and intuitive to use and are consistent with NREL standards
* Follows IS and Software Quality Assurance standards and proposes/implements new standards as needed
* Assists in creating the physical design to be used for new applications or to decide how data should be stored and used in packaged software
* Effectively balances multiple competing priorities and work activities
* Provides high-quality customer service and maintains good customer relationships with management and staff
* Maintains a high level of understanding of the Laboratory’s computing environments and technical infrastructure, as it changes



REQUIRED: Master’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in computer science or business plus a minimum of five years relevant experience. Previous experience working with Oracle Applications Version 11i and strong Oracle database (Release 9i and 10g) configuration and troubleshooting experience. Unix/Solaris 10 Operating system experience. Strong PL/SQL development and troubleshooting skills in an Oracle Applications Release 11i environment. Good analytical skills. Good project management abilities. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.



PREFERRED:

- Knowledge of the underlying data structures (i.e., tables, views) of Oracle Financials / Projects / HR Systems

- Strong experience working with Oracle’s support infrastructure (i.e., Metalink) and working issues through Oracle’s technical support organization
- Oracle Applications functional and technical knowledge of core financial modules (GL, AP, PO, FA, Inventory), Oracle Project Costing and Human Resources

- Moderate experience and knowledge of Oracle Workflow as used in Oracle

- Moderate experience and knowledge of Oracle’s Self-Service Web Applications (e.g., iExpenses, iProcurement)

- Moderate experience and knowledge of Oracle Form and Reports (Version 6i) including triggers, procedures and functions.
