Essential Functions:


Development and support of the EMC SMARTS IP and EMC SMARTS OTM application which provides network surveillance for the tw telecom IP & transport network.

Translate functional software business requirements into robust interface designs using leading web technologies.
Assist in making necessary language/platform (e.g., Java, C++, Visual Basic, Unix, PC, etc.) decisions on how best to automate the business.

Review the Functional Specifications/prototypes/proof of concepts with business partners to verify that business objectives are being realized.


Qualifications:


BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent combined application development and telephony experience.

Relevant experience in lieu of the above degrees will be considered.

In addition, 3+ years of the following, or equivalent experience would be desirable:

Experience in telecom environments, including working knowledge of optical/SONET transport technologies, circuit switching technologies, and IP and data technologies as they apply to telecommunications.

Experience in the development and administration of major application systems in a customer environment. (proficiency in development, implementation, and the support/administration of OSS/NMS applications would be a plus)

Strong proficiency in UNIX (different flavors). Shell scripting, in an implementation/support environment (Korn shell, C shell, Bourne shell). Perl Scripting experience is desirable

Oracle proficiency is desirable. SQL experience (queries, scripts) required. Ability to follow and interpret ER (Entity-Relationship) diagrams. Ability to write stored procedures.

Quality Assurance Manager will be the tollgate for all software applications and oversee all TL 9000 management activities for the company. The QA Manager will work with Engineering and Product Management to review product requirements, engineering specifications and responsible for creating and implementing all verification and validation activates for system and sub-systems tests. The QA Manager will ensure that the applications meet the desired requirements and expectation of the users and the industry standards. The QA Manager will work with the management team representatives to adhere to the standards and procedures set forth the TL 90000 requirements as well as the processes put are in place within the company and strive toward greater process improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
As an example of some of the major responsibilities of the position:

* Proactively establishes testing methods and associated data collection methods needed to evaluate functional performance and product reliability
* Principal point of contract for all test verification and related activities from design review to technically represent the company*s position on quality and test
* Define and manage technical data associated with testing activities (test reports, corrective action plan, test metrics etc) for process improvement
* Leads and mentors through example while maintaining a high level of integrity
* Develops methods to ensure all phases of system test are fully covered during each testing cycle
* Effectively manage team*s project time to ensure the budgeted time is met as projected
* Defines and builds a organization to support all activities relating to the validation and verification of the product
* Identification of needed resources (hardware or software) necessary to support the business and the projects objectives
* Works with engineering management to oversee problem resolution, investigation and follow up for questions and production issues when needed
* Provide quality management technical support to aide staff members in investigating and troubleshooting issues
* Over see TL 9000 management activities ensuring the management team is working together to ensure continual process improvement


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Managerial experience leading technical teams
* Strong background in software/system product development lifecycles
* Strong experience in product test and statistical analysis of test results
* Must know test methodologies and test metrics
* MUST HAVE SERVER-SIDE, UNIX/LINUX BASED, NETWORK PRODUCT Quality Assurance experience
* Knowledge of software engineering involving C/C++ or Java
* LINUX/UNIX admin/user experience
* Oracle experience
* SQL for querying database tables
* UNIX shell scripting
* SNMP experience
* Testing tool experience
* Automation tool experience
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving ability in the area of computer networks
* Strong understanding of TL 9000, having led teams on process improvement
* Strong sense of ownership
* Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally with other team members, immediate supervisor, internal and external customers/vendors and all levels of management (i.e. status reports, problem descriptions/resolutions, voice, email, etc).
* Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
* Ability to travel to accomplish company business as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* BS/MS in a technical discipline
* At least 7 to 10 years experience directly related to the responsibilities specified with at least 5 years management experience

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR II

The Computational and Information Systems Laboratory at the National
Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado, seeks an
individual to administer web-related services. Responsible for
administering, maintaining, and improving web hardware and software
infrastructure. This includes Sun Cluster systems, Apache web servers,
Tomcat web application servers, web proxies, relational databases, CGI
scripts, Perl libraries, SSL libraries and Certificate Authorities;
creation of additional logical web sites; and assisting web content
developers with configuration requests. Maintains the web server
architecture and directly supports WEG customers. Demonstrates advanced
knowledge and abilities in researching, testing, and developing new web
infrastructure and services.

Ensures that web server systems are operational 24x7. Works with vendors
to resolve hardware and operating system problems quickly and with a
minimum of downtime. Demonstrates advanced knowledge in the evaluation
and testing of new web technologies. Implements and installs new web
software on web servers as necessary. This includes basic web software
infrastructure, new web services, and tools for content providers.
Applies patches to existing software in a timely manner to keep versions
current and avoid known security exploits.

Requires Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and
experience in at least two programming languages (e.g., Java, Perl, PHP,
or C). Must have advanced knowledge of multi-user UNIX operating systems
such as Solaris and Linux, and system components. Requires strong
knowledge of computer security practices, and extensive experience with
administering Apache web servers, modules and web application servers
(e.g., Tomcat). Requires knowledge of relational database systems (e.g.,
MySQL, Oracle) and strong knowledge of Internet technologies including
TCP/IP networking, web servers and proxies, asynchronous communication
software, encryption software, CGI, Java, and SSL.
