CableLabs is currently looking for a Network Engineer to join our
team at our Louisville, Colorado facility.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, maintenance and
support of a commercially deployed Windows-based server network. The
network provides highly available web and data services to internal
and external customers in the cable industry. The network is
employed to meet the needs of the CIS project at CableLabs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Hands on experience with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco
routers, switches, and firewalls required. MCSE, CCNA or similar
certifications, backed by strong experience (3-4 years minimum)
preferred. Candidate will be responsible for planning, design,
installation and configuration of CIS networks. Daily activities
include monitoring network performance, troubleshooting problems both
internally and externally and maintaining network security. Other
activities include testing and documenting system behavior,
performance, and security. Person must have a strong understanding
of how to extend existing network to accommodate new applications.
Candidate will have experience deploying, configuring and securing
Microsoft SQL server, IIS and web-based applications. Strong skills
include interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and
administrative.

FUNCTIONS
• Provide network troubleshooting and "hands on" operational
support for CIS system, including 24x7 pager. CIS network comprised
of approximately 20 servers and processes more than 10 million
queries a month.
• Ability to determine the best course of action in case of
system failure. Must make independent decisions to fix the system and
make it operational again.
• Provide help desk support to external customers.
• Contribute to new product development process by working
closely with software development and QA and providing operations
deployment plans.
• Deploy and support .NET framework-based applications;
including web applications, web services and windows services.
• Deploy, configure, administrate and secure SQL Server 2005
databases.
• Perform firewall maintenance.
• Perform daily/weekly system and database backups as well as
other routine tasks.
• Create and maintain CIS system process, policy and user
documentation as needed.
• Work with data centers to perform maintenance on network and
server infrastructure.
• Participate in product testing prior to production
deployment.
• Work with IT department as needed.

reverence for Crockford and Hewitt, dreams in #000 and #fff, a loathing
of Redmond's rendering engine (but the skills to bend it to your every
whim). Experience with object-oriented programming, the prototype
inheritance pattern, and understanding of systems like DWR, Dojo,
Prototype, RoR, jQuery, YUI. Technical and user experience
